Segregating a noisy process area, maintain temperature and minimise dust

Company: Bailey of Bristol

Location: Bristol

Overview: Partition wall to control noise, temperature, and dust spread

Solution:  Flexiwall

A project site in Bristol required a partitioning solution to separate one facility into two distinct areas. Bailey of Bristol, a renowned leisure vehicle manufacturer, needed one side of their space to be designated for new woodworking CNC equipment, which would generate noise levels around or above 80dB. As this presented a significant challenge, they contacted Westgate Global, leaders in industrial partitions, to present a solution to create a quieter and more comfortable environment for employees working nearby, whilst also addressing additional environmental factors.

The building itself added complexity to the project, featuring high-level radiant tube heating, sprinkler pipework, lighting, and trunking, all of which required an innovative and flexible partition wall, that could be tightly sealed around the services with careful consideration during installation. In addition to noise control, the client needed a solution that could help maintain consistent heat levels and minimise the spread of dust between the two areas.

Westgate Global’s Flexiwall emerged as the ideal solution to address the Bailey of Bristol’s unique set of challenges. Designed to adapt to the site’s specific needs, the Flexiwall system was manufactured in Bailey of Bristol’s brand colours and included a pedestrian door and vision panels, ensuring both accessibility and visibility between the two spaces. The flexible nature of the wall allowed it to accommodate the existing infrastructure, including sprinkler pipes, lighting, and trunking, without requiring any structural modifications to the building.

Using Flexiwall effectively reduced noise levels, creating a quieter and more comfortable workspace for employees outside the CNC equipment area. It also helped maintain consistent heat levels by preventing heat loss, making it an excellent choice for temperature control. Furthermore, the system minimised dust transfer, keeping the adjacent workspace cleaner and more efficient. The installation was completed swiftly and caused minimal disruption to daily operations.

The Flexiwall system met all the client’s expectations, delivering a durable, long-term solution that aligned perfectly with their budget and operational needs. Its adaptability and quick installation process solidified it as the standout choice for the project.
