Contamination control partition to segregate clean process area
Company: British Sugar PLC
Location: Hollow Road, Bury St. Edmunds
Overview: Minimal disruption adapting to structural challenges and controlling contamination
Solution: Flexiwall

Westgate Global were contacted by the largest sugar beet producer in the UK as they required a partitioning solution to segregate an area in their Bury St. Edmunds facility to control bird contamination. British Sugar PLC needed a solution that was flexible, given the nature of the building - an older structure with irregular shapes and multiple penetrations, including a gangway - finding an effective and cost-efficient partitioning solution was crucial. Traditional segregation methods would have been much more complex and expensive to implement.
Westgate Global provided a tailored Flexiwall solution. Flexiwall, was ideal for the unique structural challenges presented by the British Sugar site. Its adaptable design and fabric composition allowed for a precise fit around irregular features, ensuring effective segregation without unnecessary structural modifications.

Westgate Global’s expert installation team ensured a seamless and efficient installation, minimising disruption to British Sugar’s operations whilst achieving the project’s key objectives:
- Effective contamination control: Flexiwall successfully segregated the designated area, mitigating the issue of contamination from birds.
- Cost-efficient and flexible solution: Compared to traditional partitioning methods, Flexiwall proved to be a more practical and cost-effective choice.
- Minimal disruption: The quick installation meant a reduced downtime, ensuring business continuity for British Sugar.
Westgate Global’s Flexiwall solution provided British Sugar PLC with a flexible and effective way to meet their contamination control goals. This project showcases Flexiwall’s ability to overcome complex structural challenges while still managing to deliver efficient and reliable results.
